Hi…I am currently using a Sony a300 & have been happy with the results for both hdr photography & all else. It has been a fantastic camera & I am not too nervous about theft when traveling as it does not necessarily draw the attention that a Nikon or Canon would. However, it is a C size sensor & I am ready to go full frame, I don’t have a lot invested in different lenses as i inherited many Minolta A-mount lenses that are of use. So I am saying that I don’t necessarily need to be loyal to my previous camera. I used Nikon 35mm for a number of years and am seriously looking at the d700 or its soon to be upgrade. Does anybody up there have any feedback or suggestions/recomendations for me? All input would be valued.

Thank You

Lincoln

I use a d200 but i wish a D700 .. if you have budjet IMHO is really a fantastic camera.
I don’t know about canon because i can’t do photo with canon but is a simple question of sensation emotion..
So for me D700 rules!

Thanks Larsen & Oliver…I think I am going to switch as soon as I can save some money, that may be a while, I also heard there might be a new Nikon Full Frame soon. I appreciate the feedback & both of you have confirmed my thoughts.

For me, going to fullframe using D700 is a great choice for you Lincoln… Been using D300s currently before switching from 40D, Nikon amaze me with Noise reduction behaviour that I never experienced in 40D. Go get it man :)

I have been a Nikon guy for a long time. I still have analog Nikon F5 for special pictures, but using D2X for everyday shooting. I bought it when full size sensor was still a dream. I am thinking about full sensor camera also and since I invested in Nikon lenses most likely my next camera is going to be Nikon D3s (full sensor with 12 MP-$5200). I was thinking about D3x (full sensor with 25 MP). It is superb but it is so pricey ($7600). I tried also Sony alpha 900 (full frame, 25 MP, ca $2500). I was very pleased with results and simplicity of handling to the point than I am thinking about it as a secondary camera. As you know buying new camera is just a begin. Than you need a lenses which might be a big expense. Since you already have some lenses I would seriously try Sony alpha 900. You won’t have a huge choice of lenses but on the other hand nothing bits Zeiss lenses. Don’t go with the flow and do your homework. Whatever you buy, you are going to be stocked with it for a while. By the way – there is a rumor about Sony alpha 950 coming this year. It is going to be a monster – new full size sensor, 34 MP and much better sensitivity.

Thank You Aperture8…I have been very happy with the sony but all of the lenses are for a size ‘’C" sensor so I would need new lenses anyhow…and I used Nikon film really really old FTN with NON-AI lenses that have been converted to work on nikon dslr’s & was hoping to get back into them. I appreciate your time to comment.

Well, I went through this a couple months ago – although I was on a budget then… I went for the new Pentax K-x and have not regretted it since. It is a great little camera. I have been considering Nikon D90 (that was actually my favorite, although the K-x shares the same CMOS sensor too), a couple of models from Canon. Well, if you are looking, have a look here: dpreview.com.

I’m thinking of purchasing the Pentax K-7 and one of the primary reasons is because of the HDR capability. Does anyone have any experience with the camera taking HDR photos?
