I just wanted to say that in the 2 or so years that i’ve been posting pictures on here my attitude towards my photography has really changed.

I started off by taking pictures of anything and everything and subsequently posted them on here (all were HDR of course). But these days i’ve simply just started posting what i consider to be the very best of my work, the ‘creme’ of my work and because of this i’m getting many more positive comments and the occasional front page.

For those of you that treat this site like flickr stop it! Simply post the very best of your work and you’ll reap the rewards.

I can go for a month at a time between posts but then when i do post something i sit back, look at it and am proud.

There is some really bland work popping up from people that have posted beautiful pictures in the past. I don’t know if you guys are just posting pictures for the sake of it like some nervous twitch or what the reason is.

That brings me to my final thought for the day. Before posting a picture here, sit back, look at it and ask yourself if you would honestly give it a high rating. If you wouldn’t then don’t upload it. Simples!

Regards,
Matt

I agree with the comments from Matt. With a mixed review about HDR from the public, HDR should be an example of the best.

I meant the HDRcreme should be the example of the best.

Matt has some good points, but I have a few reservations. HDRcreme should be a place to showcase your personal best, whatever level of shooter you might be. If you’re a beginner, show us your best beginner shots. If you’ve been around awhile, be more discriminating. Restricting the site, formally or informally, to only the best of HDR removes it as a valuable tool for beginner growth, a tool from which we have all profited. As Matt himself wrote, he shot and posted everything and anything when he began. I’m sure he benefited from whatever criticism he received. My point is, photographers of all levels should be able to post, receive criticism, and learn on HDRcreme. We all have to start someplace, and feedback is a valuable tool for growth. There are other ways to reduce the volume of mediocre images on the site. In my opinion, limiting posts to one per day (or even one per week) is a better solution than trying to influence the subjective quality of the posts.

mharb, i never said beginners pictures shouldn’t be posted. What i was aiming for is for people of all abilities to simply post their best shots. I found out the hard way that posting pictures of anything and everything isn’t appreciated on this site and so i’m passing on my advice to the new batch of users that are coming through.

No worries, Matt. I didn’t mean to suggest you said that. Just adding my opinion.

I am new here and I couldn’t agree more.

I am a beginner so mine may not be considered up to the same par as others, however, they are MY best and as I get better at this I will only post those that I consider to be the cream of the crop.

I agree that only the images you think are your best should be posted. ( I will try and follow my own advice !! ). However I beleive this site should still be
a friendly place where beginners are welcome. As long as image comments contain constructive comments and tips to improve the image.
I would not like to see this site become a clique like hdr spotting
Derek.
