I agree. I don’t understand the point of posting your “rating” if you’re not actually going to rate using the system in place. It’s a simple system, let’s use it for it’s intended purpose. I make sure that if I’m going to rate something, I leave a comment as well. |

I agree with all said, but it seems to me that the only thing some have on their mind is to be pic of the day. This to me is not what it should be about. I am an amateur, all be it I have been making photos for many years. I post my pictures to get a general feedback about where I am going wrong. HDR is a fairly new technology to me and looking through the site I have seen varying types of photos, some I like some I don’t. Also I must apologise for falling into the category of the “Nice” or “Great” tribe, this I will try to put right. Also if I say 10/10 I vote 10/10. |

I also agree with what is being said. Also if someone thinks that a pic is only worth two votes, please say why. All advice is gladly taken as I too am only learning. |

I agree with all of the above. I do feel that there are people in here that purposely vote down other peoples work. Just to try and boost their own, in the day to day ratings. You people that employ this tactic are WEAK. Why dont you work on your skills instead of degrading others. |

Further to what we are all saying. I have just received a comment and a vote on my Canal Boat pic ie:- comment “over cooked”, vote 6/10. The same person then left a comment on my Flyover pic ie:- comment “nicely done 8/10” but did not vote. Can someone please explain why. |

Follow up to the above. I asked the person why no vote and within minutes it had one . Mabey this is something we should all be doing. |

Sure. Maybe it may just take a simply request. I’m not angry at anyone for not fully voting or anything, I just see it as a courtesy that if you can take the time to write out a comment, a rating vote is that much easier. |

Well it’s seems that everyone who has commented on this page GETS IT!!! I am taking j_piekkola’s advice and requesting that those members who continue to comment “very nice 7/10, or good 8/10” and NOT leave a vote, please don’t bother to comment on my images anymore. What’s the point? Now if you know what your talking about when it comes to HDR photograhy and can leave some constructive critique I would greatly appreciate it. Opinions are like Butt Holes……..Everybody’s Got One! At least I would hope so. |

Perhaps some members think that if the “write in” their vote rather than actually “casting” it, it will make their own images more likely to be chosen for the “pic of the day” or some such reason. If any members who “write in” rather than “cast” votes are reading this discussion, perhaps you could chime in as to your actual reasons rather than making some of us speculate? |

Also on the topic of voting, it seems that some people vote really low on some pictures that obviously don’t deserve it. As far as I know, we’re all adults here, and behavior like this is childish. Whether it’s from jealousy, spite, hate, whatever…these are not reasons to be participating in the voting process. If you really want to know how someone voted on your picture, all you have to do is go to their portfolio and look at their “Top Rated” tab. It shows the images they’ve voted on, and lists them in order of highest to lowest votes. You can’t see what they actually voted, but it gives you an idea. Personally, I’ve never given any photo a rating of lower than 5, as I don’t believe that any photo is THAT bad. There is always room for improvement. |

Well someone thought yesterday that my pic deserved a rating of only 2. Now I know I am not perfect but my pic was not that bad. They didn’t say however why they thought only a vote of 2. People in glass houses ! |

Maybe its time to do away with the voting and just get constructive feedback instead. I for one would like to know where I am going wrong with my HDR pic’s. Looking at what some of the guy’s here are uploading I feel I could do a lot better if pointed in the right direction. Also could do with a bit more space in which to leave feedback, I find that posting a comment only to find part missing is frustrating. “Rant over” |

Well again, someone left me a vote of 2 on my Mr Bump pic, and no comment. Is it because I am a girl and can’t take photos as good as the guys. Well just dessert, I won pic of the day. |

Thinking about all this, a high vote wthout comment speaks for itself, but a low vote really needs a comment. For all you Mr Bump fans I also have Mr Tickle if you want to see him. LOL. |

I agree with everyone here. Photogrpahy much less HDR photography, is subjective. I know not everyone likes my pictures. I would like to know the reason why someone would not like it so I can decide to take it and use what they say to improve or to just let it pass as an opinion. Whatever your vote please leave a message to explain. I am sorry also for leaving short compliments in the past. THat, I will work on. |

I see that we have a newer member that signed up a few days ago and posted a large number of images. Someone went and rated nearly all of his pictures a 2 or 3 without any comments. Now that’s just mean spirited if you ask me…. |

I agree J ! If you will look at the Top Right hand side of this comment screen you will see a list entitled “Voices” and it shows (in Blue type) who has commented on the subject you are viewing. Perhaps Carlo could create this same type of List somewhere off to the side of the HDR image being viewed, commented and voted on to show the Members Name and what score they gave that image. I think this would improve the scoring and keep those mean spirited individuals from voting at all. I also think that if you score anything below a (6) you should give a constructive comment as to why. Just a suggestion………. |
