The cottage above this cellar dates back to about 1740 but is already the third that has been erected above the cellar.

  • NotesAlthough situated in an densely populated area (Ruhr area) few people know this place. It lies in a very small wood on a field between two big cities: Essen (500.000 and Bochun (350.000). I have been living here for over 55 years but sunday was the first time I entered this cottage. The cellar is not open for public - but a nice talk with the guardian opened the door for me :-)

I wish I had something 12th century to photograph. In the 12th century, in California, there were American Indians and maybe dinosaurs. : )

This is a fantastic shot which depicts exactly what HDR is intended to produce. I grow tired of seeing photos that have been hit by the grunge button and then scaled back. Leaving a very unrealistic looking shot. Well done Ruhri.

Very warm. The picture would have been perfect if the cardboard boxes on the left wouldn't be there.
