I'm liking the mono presets from Odell and Sweet for NIK HDR. I like it! I have been reduceing the structure a bit from the preset, but otherwise via the control points you sure have allot of options.

As a Capture NX fan I have been using control points for years and they are simply the best way of doing things. BTW, see the version (non hdr) I did in 2007 and was very happy with at the time! http://www.flickr.com/photos/almarkphotography/5391800790/
