The white marble statues that make up the fountain are larger than the real one [3]. The nudes are the allegories of the four main rivers of the Earth, one for each of the continents then known, which are represented as the work of the giant marble sitting propped on a rock station in travertine (by Giovan Maria Franks of 1648): the Nile (carved by Giacomo Antonio Fancelli in 1650), Ganga (the work of 1651 by Claude Poussin), the Danube (Antonio Raggi in 1650) and the Rio de la Plata [4] (by Francesco Baratta, of 1651).
