The Detroit Masonic Temple first opened in 1926, has 14 floors and 1037 rooms. Asylum of the Knights of Templar, named for the soldiers who protected pilgrims en route to the Holy Land, marks the exact center of the building. A replica of a Westminster chapel in England right down to the stone floors, this English Tudor room with internally lit stained-glass windows now serves as a source of income for the temple and is rented out for weddings.
