This plaster statue of Ercole ,made by Giacomo de Maria, is in Palazzo Hercolani in Bologna, currently houses the Faculty of Political Sciences. The relief represents Hercules, poisoned and driven mad by the blood of Nesso, throwing the innocent Lica at sea.

Great photo, I can't make up my mind if it represents the attempted sacrifice of Isaac by Abraham, or the acrobatic strength and suppleness required of politicians.

Sergio, thanks for your explanation. Now the parts of the puzzle come together and make the relief clear and obvious!
