In 1911, Seattle’s 12th Avenue South or Dearborn Street Bridge was erected. It is one of the first permanent steel bridges build in Seattle. In 1974 it was renamed the Jose Rizal Bridge. In 2007 it became the state’s oldest steel-arch bridge. This view is a tricky one to get to and I would advise going with one or more people because a lot of homeless people sleep in the woods where this picture was taken, but the results are worth it. The 12th Avenue South Bridge—now officially Jose P. Rizal Bridge is a historic bridge in Seattle, Washington, that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The bridge was built in 1911, and was one of the first permanent steel bridges in Seattle. It carries 12th Avenue S. across S. Dearborn Street and Interstate 90, connecting Seattle’s International District to Beacon Hill.
