Peñarol is a neighborhood of the city of Montevideo, capital of Uruguay. Its name derives from the Italian city of Pinerolo in the region of Piamonte. Juan Bautista Crosa from the village Pinerolo (Piamonte, Italy), set up a general store in 1776. A century after the death of Crosa, in 1890, Peñarol came the first industrial revolution, with the installation of British railway workshops of the company Ferro Carril Central del Uruguay (FCCU), founded in 1876. In late 1907, the company had already built the 33 thousand square meters that are still standing and that since 1975 are legally National Monument. It is composed of workshops, the 44 homes staff worker, 8 houses staff hierarchy,a general store and social meeting place and recreation.

Not say that Pinerolo, gives name to my favorite soccer club (idiomatic strain) Club Atletico Peñarol. 3 times world champion.
