Earlier in the summer, after the flowers have bloomed, the cotton Boll grows to about a 1.5 inch seed pod, containing the growing cotton fiber and the seed within. There is even now incredible detail in the color and texture of the boll, beginning the browning and drying process that will expose the cotton fiber for the harvest.
