This is the wheel of the sailing ship glacier, it is berthed in the Albert dock at Liverpool. There have been a few nautical themed images posted lately so I thought I would try one of my own with a slightly different process. The building in the background was once a warehouse for the ships bringing spices sugar and tea from the indies and America but is now full of trendy wine bars.

The texture of the wood is exceptional. Johnt, can you say what type of wood?

A host of good shots today and this is one of them. Great..!!

@Ricardo.. the wheel is flat sawn white oak which is highly resistant to rot from water. Used in ship's beams.. wharves.. etc. The spindles likely the same but the stain makes indenification near impossible. :)

Great process but the image is too 'pale' for my liking.

Beautiful image but just a tad too "bright" as far as the boat area is concerned :-)

Incredible. I am wondering though if you darkened that bit of the orange life-ring down to the level of that above so that it does not distract? Yeah I would do that because now it seems to be sticking out for no apparent reason.

@alkeme, I thought odf doing several things, one of which was selective colour just on the wheel itself

I can see the Pros and Cons of the comments above. But the fact that you did not OverProcess this image is enough for me to give that Steering Wheel a 10.
