I like your idea of the trees framing the image but personally I think that it would have been better using one of them as the focus and slightly off centering it.

The symmetry creates a balance that enhances the overall composition of this image. The trees and the matching green of the foreground and the patch near the horizon help pull the image together. Lack of sharpness (wind?) detracts.
