As the sun just set over the North-Sea, some of the fiery red light reflects off the pure white van Speijk lighthouse in Egmond, the Netherlands. One of the last working lighthouses, most of whom have been replaced by coastal radar and advanced electronics, it is still a monument standing on the very top of the dunes that protect the low country behind them from the sea. As the skies clearly show: summer is definitely over!
