Preservation of the ruins (Wikipedia) View from the battlements Münzenberg 1846 began with the restoration of individual parts of the castle and security of the masonry. Just one year later the Eastern donjon was climbable. Was allowed to fall but plans calling for a romantic restoration of the castle. After 1894 they went on the exchange components such as weathered window pillars. The extracted originals were kept in lapidary. Perhaps in 1900 we reconstructed the south window of the Falkensteiner construction. In 1935, the castle finally came into the possession of the state of Hesse. From 1960, the conservation work on the late Gothic kitchen were performed, such as the deduction of impressive sophistication rebuilt. Even the almost circular walkway of the nucleus was made ​​accessible again. Excavations that have been carried out around 1960 after little aspects of preservation, since they destroyed archaeological layers promoted, revealed parts of the previous replacement of the palace, the east tower and the outbuildings of the Falkensteiner construction.
