I took this image by making multiple shots at different EVs for the first time using my Nikon D3100 rather than shooting a single RAW file.
I'm convinced that having multiple shots at different EV is a lot more realistic than a Single Raw.
I've done this manually and it took me a lot of time for me to change its EV.
The reason why the sky is gradient-like (Black to Blue) is because of the Polarizing filter I used. No matter what preset I use it's always there so I chose what is the best for it.

You are correct, taking multiples is by far the best if you can do it. The more the better.

Just a suggestion Mark but next you try a filter do a comparison, i.e. 5 shots with & 5 without, this way you will be able to gauge the difference... It will still change with the light available at the time....
