In 1945, my father was 16 years old. He took this horn and headed to New York to pursue his dream of becoming a musician. He became the youngest person to join the musicians union at the time and played with many of the top bands of the era as they came through town. In 1952 he was called up by the Marine Corps to fight in the Korean war. He was wounded three times and received 3 purple hearts. Upon returning home, he married and put away his horn and the dreams that he kept with it. I can still hear in my mind the beautiful sound of this horn playing. I set a dark tone to match the memories that remain but are less clear as time passes. The walls have a sand texture on them. (I used a focused light with black wrap and holes punched in them. This causes the cross-hatch appearance on the walls.)

I'm not sure if he has any recordings made when he played. He's 84 years old now and his memory is failing. I need to check with him as he has HUNDREDS of classic wax albums all in pristine condition- most play at 78 RPM
