We were headed back to Reykjavik and made another stop at Jokulsarlon. The wind was howling around 60mph and a few hours later we heard that it had ramped up to 90mph. Cars had their windows blown out and doors ripped off by the wind and blowing rocks. Hwy 1 was closed shortly after this shot and quite a few people had to be rescued. The road sign said closed, but it was in Icelandic so many people kept driving and had a very bad day. We made it ok, but for the next few days in Gardur the wind continued to howl up to 60mph - It was a great way to finish off a trip to Iceland.
