  • Notes Within 12 months, this delightful scene had disappeared, with the edge of the horse paddock overgrown by silver wattle saplings (an invasive species derived, I am sad to say, from my own home country).

On the Riviersonderend mountains, behind the Overberg village of Greyton, a fire raged all day, incinerating feinbos. The only up-side was the smoke, which made for a beautiful sunset.
