There is not a huge amount left of the old village of D'urbanville. Originally a farm called Pampoenkraal (Pumpkin Patch), it grew into an important rest stop (outspan) for travellers and then into a town with a major wagon-building business. It was long ago swallowed up to become a suburb of Cape Town. The middle to late 20th Century saw shocking destruction of its heritage but some old buildings remain, here and there. This is one of a pair of shops that now occupy what were once terraced workers' cottages.
