Vatnajokull is the largest glacier in Iceland. The glacier is constantly calving, as it recedes, into this lagoon before the smaller fragments wash out to sea with the changing tide. In this image the tide is racing out and pushing these small bergs into the outlet to the sea. In the background of this image the glacier can be seen blackened by the ash of the last volcano in the mid 80's.
