If you declarify and denoise your sky it will soften it and push it back creating a more logical background. It will also soften your haloing. If you are using Photomatix push your highlights smoothing in the detail enhancer all the way to the right. It will smooth the sky and also either eliminate or significantly reduce the halo. ( sorry to sound bossy!! )
