This is a corner in Yar city (Jiaohe), capital of the lost Jushi kingdom in Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region, about 10 km from the present city of Turfan. It was built in about 100 BCE, atop a high island made by the incision by a river into its own silt deposits. The city was constructed of rammed earth bricks, in various styles (some of which you can see here). It was destroyed in the Mongol invasion in the 13th century CE.
