Obviously the blacks are severely clipped. Nevertheless this is one of my favourite images of Maui. I have included the 0 exposure image and you can see there is still HDR effect.

Generally not a fan of HDR silhouettes as they don't really help images that much, but this one is very good Joe. Like the Contrast between the HDR switch to the Full Screen post. The final edit really POPS. Well Done and thanks for sharing.

@josephc a definite contrast in tge silhouette. Works well here in fact defining the shadows would take away. I think for tall trees or long subjects in general, emphasizing that through a 3:2 portrait aspect really adds a lot. Can you crop a grouping of trees ( several pleasing groups hidden in there) and try to see if you can see what I mean. Colors are great, the pop to the background is really nice. I think it could work.
