I took my grandson out for a portrait gift for his parents. I took advantage of the golden hour and used an ND filter to create a “flow” look to the water. This image was merged in Photomatix, but four different renderings were made. Detail enhancer, contrast optimizer, tone balancer, and tone compressor. All had slightly different characteristics. I created four separate layers. The best components of each were blended using low opacity brushes and layer masks. When an optimal image was attained, additional layers were created varying the white balance in the highlights and shadows. Warmer in the sunlight and cooler in the shadows. CC is always welcome. Sorry I couldn’t get him to smile though. He’s 11.

Outstanding Work Steve. Great balance of light throughout the image. Contrast between 0EV and Final Image is impressive. Thanks for sharing Mr. Grumpy with us.
